Still working lots and lots. Getting 4 hours of OT between today and tomorrow. Cooking Mandy fajitas again tomorrow. Should be a whole lot of fun. I’m getting really good at them fajitas. But this means I need to go to Sam’s tonight, and will likely need to go to Albertson’s as well. I hate Wal-mart, which means until the south side of town gets their own completed and staffed, I will not be seen there. It’s like Dallas traffic on a holiday weekend friday going down in the Produce section. Awful.
Saturday, I’ll be eating lunch with one of the kids from our youth group. How did I, I the unethical heathen, end up as a youth leader? Beats me. Maybe God’s sense of humour is more twisted than mine. Scary, huh? Youth group’s having all sorts of fun, with a different speaker every wednesday. Most of those kids still don’t know what hit them. Crazy messed up world, huh? I don’t remember dealing with half the drama that these kids deal with. Girls, why, oh why, do you feel the need to screw with every-guy-who-looks-at-you’s head? It’s not fair, not cool, and THE REASON why men die younger than women. blah. Glad I got the only good one left. As for what to do with the rest of you “ladies”…
Okay, that may have sounded completely chauvanistic, but women have been messing with little boy’s heads for a loooooooooooooooooooong time. I think it’s time to stop. 14 years old is not the proper time for a young man to learn that a female’s company can be quite inviting and desirable. Especially when that company is held just out of reach of said young male.
Enough of that rant. Well, back to work, as it’s all I seem to do now.

Wow. So much is happening. I’ve been working many many hour days, and I cannot wait to get paid. Oct 6 will be a great day among the history of 2005 according to Jace.
Work’s good, too. Been working with Oracle databases from several different locations, and trying to get MS Access to pull queries between them. It sucks, and it’s sloooooooow. I’ve been doing a whole lot with Access recently, and it’s a really powerful tool. And I finally discovered that you can pass stuff by reference in VB, which almost makes me like it. I’m also getting Access to connect to a RUMBA session and do some screen scraping from our mainframe application. Wicked cool stuff. I may geek out and post a whole bunch of stuff on Access before too long. I’ve built some relatively complex tools here, and it seems that management is taking notice, which is good.
Well, I’d better get back to work.
See ya,

So yesterday was fun. I was at work for 12 1/2 hours straight. No lunch, no nada. But the project is complete and the boss is happy. And I just got 4 1/2 hours of overtime, so I’m happy. Just really, really tired.
Mandy’s got her first big test today. I hope she does well. She want to be a nurse, did you know? That’s cool and all, and I really hope she enjoys it, but I have some doubts as to whether she can do it or not. She’s smart, and can do anything she sets her mind to; but medical stuff is hard. I’d rather work for my doctorate in software engineering and and have to build the most complex and fastest sorting algorithm known to man than spend 3 hours a week in an A&P class. Oh well. Good luck, girl.
She doesn’t read this, are you aware? Or I might be in just a little bit of trouble. You might never hear from me again.
I’m tired. I feel like I’ve stayed up all night and should now be going to bed. But I’ve got another full day ahead of me. Sucks.
See ya,

So three weeks and no comments. Maybe this site is dying…
For any who might care, work is going well. Things with the girl, also going well (except she’s been sick for a week or so). Had a lot of fun last weekend in Dallas at the DMB concert. Victor Wooten played there and I got his CD and an autograph. Wicked cool. He put on the 2nd best show I’ve ever seen, and he was the opening act. Just plain badass.
So I think I’ve figured out a way to get my content management system set up and running before too long. It’ll be cool, with, essentially, a file system set up in a database. This thing could act as a blog, or a wiki, or a… pretty much anything. It’s just taking forever to set it all up. I forgot how much programming is involved in this sort of thing. But hey, if I build it right once, I can reuse a lot of it many more times.
Well, that’s all for now. See ya.

So, work’s now very interesting. I think I’m on the verge of getting chewed out by our site manager (VP), but our ops managers (just under VP) seem to like me a lot. Weird. Database is giving us lots of fits and it’s getting on my nerves. A lot.
Tomorrow Mandy and I are flying out to Dallas to see Dave Matthews Band, and I can’t wait. Should be tons of fun, shopping and lots of etc.
Rails app is really coming along. I’m really beginning to like Rails and Ruby’s not that bad. It’s amazing how fast you can get something cool up and running. I got an (almost) fully functional, threaded CMS up in less than a week. Next thing to build is a thing to add attachments so that they just get dropped into the database and the app sends out the Mime type and everything. Looks like I may have built WinFS… But in MySQL. I’ll try to upload a picture, but no guarantees.

Here’s the link.
Y’all have fun.
